The game obviously looks a bit dated now but was revolutionary at the time. 64 player servers. Great game in which quite a few people still playing it now (as per link by gametracker)

Use to play on a modded 128 player server (about 5 years ago) playing maps like wake island with that many players was awesome

 The Easter of 2002 I moved to Banbury Oxfordshire , I moved into a house share with my mate Lewis who had got a job as a sound engineer working for codemasters ( Colin Mcrea & Toca )  some time later in that summer he came home with a demo disc of this game he had been raving about all it had on the disc  in black marker BF42WI - DEMO . & my head was blown . BF1942 / Desert Combat / Desert Combat final best mod ever of any game . I was wishing  when Dice / Ea announced BFV would be WW2 is that all they would do is just reskin all the BF1942 maps with more assets on the maps & then release the Desert Combat mod as dlc , then we would of all had the best of both worlds old and new & Dice / Ea would of had there best selling game of all time .

Glory Days!!! Can u remember,going online,with a crapy,laggy noisy System,waiting half an Hour to find Servers?
Oh boy,That was Balls t t Walls,when i Playd first time Online...Can you remeber,can ya? lol

LOL I can mate. yes to be fair there was quite a few laggy servers at first but they got it working in the end

Desert Combat final best mod ever of any game .

Indeed Shaun - the Desert Combat Mod was awesome. Great Memories If i remember rightly it was at the time of when Broadband was in its infancy and the mod took forever to download. but well worth it in the end.

Great find Daz. That server (The Torture Box) was the server I was an admin on a long time ago. Great server and great fun with 128 players on. Not sure what ever happened to it - it just went offline one day and disappeared and the server owner went awol too!
