Yeah definitely gonna wait for game benchmarks first - if there's no significant improvement over a 1080 or 1080 Ti then there's no real need to buy one. Yet....
Never say never- I am tempted to get a 2080ti but un till we get performance comparisons best keep that temptation to the side.....for now :P
Also some of the details.of the cards are a bit misleading. Makes the 2080ti not.much of a upgrade from the titan XP but I think it's going go be VERY good. Watch this space for the gpx scores for when they test them out on the AAA titles.
At double the cost of my 1080ti - the performance jump would have to be huge for me to buy that.

TLDR version
+40% performance on 1080ti. without ray tracing. Will get even higher when games are built to take in new DLSS tech. But there are none currently with either.
+100% on price

Exactly. There just not worth it for the same performance. I hope AMD are rubbing there hands together and have got something up their sleeves for the future for the same performance as the 2080ti but alot cheaper :)

Yeah I read a few of these horror stories on the Overclockers forum where peoples 2080ti are dying after a few weeks of use. Ouch
